Bob Jones – photographer, Omokoroa

Bob Jones discovered his passion for photography at the age of 13, beginning with a home-built darkroom tucked behind his father’s garage. That early fascination with the craft evolved into a lifelong pursuit, with a darkroom in every home he lived in until recent years. Drawn to the timeless beauty of black and white photography, Bob continues to explore a wide range of subjects through his lens. His work spans landscapes, seascapes, urban architecture, flora and fauna, and intricate close-up and macro photography. For a decade, Bob co-led a photography tutor group with fellow members of the Howick Photographic Society, mentoring small groups and sharing his knowledge across a broad spectrum of photographic techniques. He found great satisfaction in helping others grow, watching their skills develop through hands-on learning. Bob is a Life Member of the Howick Photographic Society, a member of the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ), and the Tauranga Photographic Society. He holds a Licentiateship honour with PSNZ and currently exhibits his work at TOLO, the local gallery.
