Deidre Eichler, artist

Deidre Eichler is the guest exhibitor at the Omokoroa Gallery from 3 January to 2 February 2025. This exhibition follows a successful exhibition in September 2024. Deidre is a self-taught, realist painter who paints landscapes, seascapes, birds and nature. She has lived in Omokoroa for more than 50 years and went to Omokoroa Point School in the 1970s. Deidre began painting in those early years. Her memories of growing up in the tiny village inspire many of her paintings. Several Omokoroa scenes are included in her collection. Many of her paintings are of Omokoroa as it is today, but she focuses on those places in Omokoroa that have not changed a great deal since her childhood. Other landscapes Deidre has painted include Bethlehem, the Coromandel peninsula and Waiheke Island. Most of Deidre's paintings are acrylic, but she also paints with watercolours and oils. Her paintings are colourful and highly detailed. She has been selling paintings on Trade Me since 2006 with 100 percent positive feedback. Deidre is excited to again be sharing her art with the Omokoroa community.
